about me

hi!!!!! my name is megan and i'm an ojibwe beadwork artist, living and creating in montréal / tiohtià:ke. i was born and raised in winnipeg, manitoba - treaty no. 1 territory. inspired by my late great granny's path of resilience - from residential school to the army, this project is called LEONA.

LEONA exposes the simplistic beauty and power of beadwork by utilizing traditional techniques to create bold contemporary designs. inspiration comes from everywhere, i really like playing with colour combinations (even though my personal expression is generally very neutral!).

i grew up with the feeling of not being allowed to take up space, and through this project LEONA, i can only hope that these creations will help you take up space, will encourage you to stand out and will make you feel really like your true self <3

also ! i'm an architectural designer in my 9-5, and clearly i have an affinity for little houses.
